Aging in Place Advisors

Our team of Aging in Place Advisors have many years of experience in helping families face the challenges of caring for their loved ones. We offer practical advice and solutions for the following:

 

  • Advice and recommendations to help you minimize financial and emotional stress and family conflicts, thus allowing you to manage and prioritize your time and resources

  • Evaluate an older adult’s ability to manage activities of daily living

  • Engaging the services of a home care agency or hiring a private caregiver

  • Resolving conflicts within families on their role in sharing responsibilities for a loved one.

  • Managing caregiving when family caregivers live at a distance or out of state, cannot visit on a daily or regular basis, and/or go on vacation or business trip

  • Managing the daily needs of chronic conditions such as Parkinson’s, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc.

  • Find supportive program(s) to help older adults who are caring for adult children with disabilities

  • Identify support groups to help families cope with the transitions of aging

Cheryl Rumley, Apex Healthcare

Cheryl Rumley, RN, President & CEO, Apex Healthcare Services, has more than 25 + years' geriatric and home care experience. Her expertise includes helping people who are diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, Cancer, Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease, Cardiac Disease and other conditions. She believes the home environment maintains the greatest satisfaction and contributes to the highest level of functioning, as well as quality of life, for people who require care and their families.

 

Cheryl has been an adjunct professor of Becker College, Worcester, MA, for their Associate Degree Nursing Program. When necessary, Smith recommends personal care services, homemakers and companions, hospice care, nursing care management and specialty services as they relate to dementia and acquired brain injury care.
